What Students Need to Do

Students prepare with evidence, then collaborate under shared goals, deadlines, and roles. They ask and answer detailed questions, contribute clearly and persuasively, and paraphrase multiple perspectives during reflection.

What Mastery Looks Like

A student refers to prepared material, completes an assigned role, and advances the group's goal. The student elaborates on questions and accurately paraphrases differing views before explaining a takeaway.

Common Misconceptions

Students may cite preparation without connecting it to the discussion or treat a role as permission to dominate. They may paraphrase by judging another view or omit details that change its meaning.

How to Assess It

Run a timed discussion with roles and one shared goal. Check each student for prepared evidence, a detailed exchange, role completion, and an accurate paraphrase of another view.
