Materials

Preparation

  1. Print one student kit for each team and keep this answer key separate.
  2. Cut apart the ten Station 1 cards. Mix them before placing them in the Station 1 envelope.
  3. Cut apart the two Station 2 teammate cards. Place both in the Station 2 envelope.
  4. Place the Station 3 table and Station 4 route board in their numbered envelopes.
  5. Give each team its Team Code Log and Station 1 envelope. Release the next envelope when the current code is correct.

Station Setup

  • Station 1: Teams spread out the five report cards and five process plates, match them, and place the pairs in slot order.
  • Station 2: Two teammates each hold one card and communicate without showing it.
  • Station 3: Teams cross out unsafe rows directly on the recharge manifest.

Hints

Each team may spend up to three hints during the game, on whichever stations it chooses.

  • Station 1: After matching the cards, place the pairs in Slot 1 through Slot 5 order and read the tags on the process plates.
  • Station 2: Compare all three intake requirements with the cloud registry, then use the badge beside the only matching cloud.
  • Station 3: Cross out every core that fails either rule, then read the surviving core's badge.
  • Station 4: Follow only correct choices from Gate 1 and record each route tag in travel order.

  • How did each station show a different part of the movement or storage of water?

Seal each numbered station envelope. Teams may break a seal only after the previous code has been verified.

Magnets

Attach magnets to the backs of the Station 1 cards so teams can build the sensor sequence on a magnetic board.

UV Pen and Flashlight
