Data Sharing
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We use trusted third-party service providers to help deliver our services, including:
- Supabase for our database, authentication, and file storage
- Vercel for hosting and site analytics
- OpenAI and Anthropic for AI content generation (see AI Processing below)
- Stripe for payment processing
- Resend for email delivery
- PostHog for privacy-friendly analytics to understand how teachers use our platform and identify areas for improvement
- Google, when you choose to export content to Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Forms, or Classroom
- CloudConvert for file format conversion during some exports
- Unsplash and Pexels for licensed stock images (only your image search text is sent)
For a full description of each provider and what data it receives, see our Trust & Security page.
We never sell your information or share it for other companies' marketing. See Advertising Measurement below for how we measure our own ads.
Analytics
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to understand how our platform is used and to improve the user experience. PostHog helps us track page views, feature usage, and identify technical errors. Unlike traditional analytics tools, our implementation of PostHog does not use tracking cookies.
For more information about PostHog's privacy practices, visit PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Our PostHog analytics may include replays of how signed-in teachers move through the app, which help us find and fix usability problems. Replays never run on student activity screens, and sensitive inputs such as passwords are masked.
We also use Vercel Analytics, which provides anonymized, aggregate page statistics for the site.
Advertising Measurement
To measure the effectiveness of our advertising, we use the Meta pixel and the Google Ads tag. These services use cookies to tell us when a visit or signup resulted from one of our ads, and may be used to show our ads to similar audiences on those platforms. We do not send them the content you create, and this measurement does not involve student data. These tags never load on student activity screens. You can learn more or opt out through Meta's ad preferences and Google's ad settings.
AI Processing
When you use our AI Teaching Assistant and lesson planning features, your conversations and uploaded files are sent to OpenAI to generate responses and lesson plans. In rare cases where OpenAI declines a request, we retry it with Anthropic. We do not permit these providers to use Lesson Maker Pro content to train their models. OpenAI data sharing is disabled, and Anthropic does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial API for training by default.
Please do not share personally identifiable student information (such as student names, grades, or identifying details) in your conversations with our AI assistant. We recommend discussing teaching concepts, strategies, and materials without referencing specific students.
Lesson Maker Pro is designed as a teacher-facing tool and does not require student records or education data to function. Where students use an activity screen their teacher created, we handle their information as described in Student Activity Sessions below, and we do not send anything from student sessions to AI providers.
Student Activity Sessions
Lesson Maker Pro is built for teachers, and there are no student accounts. Some activities a teacher creates, like digital experiences and escape room sessions, include a student screen: students join with a short code on their own device, with no login and no account. Because children may use these screens, here is exactly what happens there:
- Students enter a first name so their teacher can see their progress live during the session. That name is shown to the teacher in real time and is never saved to our servers, our database, or our analytics.
- When a student finishes, we record an anonymous completion code and score statistics so the teacher can verify the work. This record contains no name and nothing the student typed.
- Student session screens use temporary technical identifiers (a session join code and the network information every website receives) solely to run the activity itself: delivering the game, showing live progress to the teacher, and keeping the session secure. We do not use these identifiers to build profiles, to contact anyone, or for advertising of any kind.
- Our analytics tools and advertising tags are switched off entirely on student screens.
- Session records are deleted 14 days after the session is created. Anonymous completion records are deleted after 12 months.
- The "mission report" a student can save at the end of an activity is created on the student's own device and is never uploaded to us.
We never use anything from a student session to train AI models or for advertising. Parents or schools with questions about a student session can contact us at the email address below; because we do not keep student personal information, there is typically nothing to review or delete, and we will confirm that in writing on request.
Uploaded Files
Images you upload to the AI Teaching Assistant are stored in a private storage bucket. They are never publicly accessible and are displayed back to you through temporary signed links that expire after one hour. When you delete a conversation, the images uploaded to it are deleted from our storage as well.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption for data transmission and secure storage practices. We work diligently to protect your privacy and continuously review our security practices.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal information and created content
- Update or correct your information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your created content
- Opt out of promotional communications
You can delete individual lesson plans, materials, and conversations from within the app, and export your content as PDF, Word, or PowerPoint files or to Google. Account deletion is currently handled by request: contact us at the email address below and we will delete your account and its data. The same goes for any other rights listed above.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
Specific retention periods:
- Student session records (join codes and session data): deleted 14 days after creation.
- Student names typed to join a session: never stored.
- Anonymous completion records (completion code and score statistics, no name): deleted after 12 months.
- Images uploaded to conversations: deleted immediately when you delete the conversation.
- Payment records: retained by our payment processor as required by tax and accounting law.
We do not retain children's personal information indefinitely, and we do not retain any data from student sessions for advertising, profiling, or AI training.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated policy will show a new effective date.
