Common Misconceptions

Students may think a mixed economy is an equal blend of market and command features. They may also assume market economies have no government involvement or that traditional economies are simply outdated.

How to Assess It

Give students three short economic scenarios and ask them to label each system and cite one detail as evidence. Add one prompt: Place Canada, Brazil, and Cuba on a market-to-command continuum.
