K.14 is a TEKS knowledge and skills statement. These are the student expectations under it.

What Students Need to Do

Students put familiar events and routines in order and describe when each one happens. They use time words such as yesterday, today, tomorrow, first, next, and last. They share ideas through speaking, writing, pictures, and simple maps while listening and responding respectfully.

What Mastery Looks Like

A student correctly orders picture cards and explains the sequence using accurate time words. The student can create or read a simple picture or map to share information. During partner talk, the student listens without interrupting and responds to the speaker's idea.

Common Misconceptions

Students may reverse yesterday and tomorrow or use next for any event. They may arrange events by picture position rather than by what happened. Some treat maps as ordinary drawings or respond before a classmate finishes speaking.

How to Assess It

Give each student three mixed-up pictures of a familiar routine. Ask the student to order them, explain what happened first, next, and last, then answer one classmate's question.

   Give pairs four picture cards showing a classroom routine, then have them arrange the cards and explain the sequence.

   Ask, "What did you do yesterday, what are you doing today, and what might you do tomorrow?" Partners listen, then respond.

   Play Sequence Charades: one child acts out three steps, while classmates name what happened first, next, and last.

   Use a simple school map to trace the route from the classroom to the cafeteria and describe landmarks along the way.
