SSKH2 is a Georgia social studies standard. These are the elements under it.

Teacher's field guide

What Students Need to Do: Students recognize and name common American symbols in pictures, objects, songs, and spoken words. They tell what each symbol represents or whom it honors.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students identify the United States flag, Georgia flag, bald eagle, Statue of Liberty, White House, Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument. They also recognize the Pledge of Allegiance and national anthem.
Common Misconceptions: Students may confuse the two flags or mix up the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. They may call any patriotic song the national anthem.
How to Assess It: Show four symbol cards and ask students to name each one. For a monument, ask whom it honors.

Lesson moves

Create a classroom museum by matching picture labels to small flags, an eagle model, and photographs of national landmarks.
Show two monument pictures and ask, “What is each called, and what detail helps you remember it?”
Play symbol bingo by calling each symbol’s name, description, or purpose while students cover matching pictures.
Take a virtual tour of Washington, D.C., and have students point out each landmark when it appears.
