What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students explain how migration, civil rights, the space program, tourism, and citizen action changed modern Florida. They connect these changes to population, jobs, communities, and the environment.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students can place key developments on a timeline and explain causes and effects using facts. They can compare Florida before and after a major change.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think population growth had only one cause or that tourism brings only benefits. They may also see civil rights and space exploration as national stories with little connection to Florida.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Choose tourism, migration, civil rights, or the space program. Name two effects on Florida and support one effect with a fact.
