What this standard means
Students need to change measurements within one system, such as inches to feet, meters to centimeters, or liters to milliliters. They also need to use those conversions inside multi-step word problems, not just fill in a conversion chart.
Mastery looks like choosing the right conversion, multiplying or dividing correctly, and keeping units labeled through the work. Students often get stuck deciding which way to move the decimal, mixing metric and customary rules, or converting too early without reading the whole problem.
