Students identify how writers organize and explain information using definitions, facts, examples, headings, and transitions. They explain each technique's effect and use suitable techniques in their own writing.

How to Assess It

Give students a short paragraph and ask them to label two techniques, explain each technique's effect, and revise one sentence for clarity.
