What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students create and share a simple message using words, pictures, audio, or other media. They work with classmates to make choices, divide tasks, and improve the final product.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students create a clear oral or written message with two useful media elements, such as a labeled picture and audio. They share tasks, listen to a partner, and use feedback to improve the work.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add pictures or sounds that are decorative but do not support the message. They may repeat the same information in every format or let one partner do all the work.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to create one slide about an animal with a sentence, a labeled picture, and a voice recording. Have them explain how each part helps the audience.

Ways to Teach It
Pairs create a weather report poster with a labeled drawing and recorded forecast, switching roles after each step.
Ask, "Which picture or sound would help someone understand your sentence better, and why?"
Play a matching game where students pair sentence cards with useful pictures or sounds, then explain each match.
Students create a lunch announcement with one sentence, a menu picture, and a short audio message for classmates.
