What This Cluster Means

What Students Need to Do

Students plan and produce a shared digital or multimedia product for a clear purpose and audience. They choose useful evidence and media, divide responsibilities, exchange feedback, revise, and credit sources.

What Mastery Looks Like

A student creates a clear, polished product in which words, visuals, and audio support the same message. The student contributes to group decisions, uses specific feedback, credits sources, and explains revisions.

Common Misconceptions

Students may add images or sound only for decoration, crowd slides with text, or choose media that distracts from the message. They may divide tasks without combining ideas, copy source material, or give feedback such as “looks good” instead of a specific suggestion.

How to Assess It

Give students one crowded slide and ask them to revise it for a ninth-grade audience. They must remove, add, or change two elements and explain each choice.

Ways to Teach It

  1. Give teams paper slides, image cards, and evidence strips to build a six-slide presentation before creating it digitally.

  2. Ask students to write which media choice best supports a claim, then defend the choice with a partner.

  3. Run a feedback relay where groups rotate through presentations and leave one praise, one question, and one specific revision.

  4. Have teams create a two-minute public service announcement for a real school issue, using evidence, visuals, and assigned production roles.
