What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students work with a partner to create and share a simple message or story. They combine drawings, spoken words, labels, photos, or audio to help an audience understand.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student contributes an idea, takes a turn, and helps finish a shared product. The student chooses a picture, label, or recording that matches the message and explains that choice.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add pictures or sounds that are fun but do not match the message. Some let one partner do all the work, talk over others, or copy without contributing.
How to Assess It
- Give pairs eight minutes to make a poster showing one classroom rule with a picture and label. Check that both students contribute and explain their choices.

Ways to Teach It
Pairs make a three-page paper book, with each child drawing one page and helping create the cover.
Ask, "Which picture or sound would help someone understand our story, and why?"
Play Match the Message by having students pair sentence cards with helpful pictures, then explain each match.
Create a class welcome poster for new students using shared drawings, labels, and recorded greetings.
