What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students connect each named person or group to specific actions and results. They explain whether those contributions shaped civil rights, women's rights, military service, or national politics.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students accurately describe a contribution for each person or group and explain why it mattered. They can compare two contributions, such as Rosa Parks challenging segregation and the Tuskegee Airmen breaking military barriers.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think Rosa Parks acted without planning or that Martin Luther King Jr. ended segregation alone. They may confuse the Tuskegee Airmen with the 442nd Regiment, or mix up the presidencies of Roosevelt and Reagan.

- Exit ticket: Choose one individual and one group. For each, name one action, its area of impact, and one result.
