Common Misconceptions: Students may treat all sales revenue as profit and forget to subtract costs such as materials, labor, or packaging. They may subtract in the wrong order or compare one item's cost with revenue from several items.
How to Assess It: Give this exit ticket: A student spends $12 making 6 bookmarks and sells each for $3. Find the profit, then explain what happens if costs rise by $3.

Lesson moves

Give pairs paper, ribbon, price tags, and play money; assign supply costs, conduct bookmark sales, and calculate each shop's profit.
Ask, "If a stand sells the same number of drinks but raises the price, how will profit change? Explain with numbers."
