What Students Need to Do
- Students gather relevant information from multiple sources and assess both credibility and accuracy. They quote or paraphrase responsibly, avoid plagiarism, and use a standard citation format.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student checks author expertise, evidence, date, and agreement with other sources before using information. Integrated quotations and paraphrases remain accurate and include correctly formatted citations.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may mistake relevance for credibility, copy source wording without quotation marks, or change meaning while paraphrasing. They may attach citations without integrating evidence into their own reasoning.
How to Assess It
- Give two online source excerpts with publication details. Ask students to evaluate credibility and accuracy, integrate one paraphrase, and add a citation in the assigned format.
