What Students Need to Do
- Students gather relevant information from experiences and multiple sources, then summarize or paraphrase it. They avoid copying and provide a list of sources.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student restates source ideas accurately in original wording while preserving the meaning. Notes distinguish the student's words from quotations and include a complete source list.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may copy source wording, paraphrase inaccurately, or omit useful information. They may forget to list a source or fail to mark an exact quotation.
How to Assess It
- Give two short sources. Ask students to paraphrase one idea from each, identify any exact quotation, and list both sources.
