What Mastery Looks Like: The student maps multiple claims to relevant reasons and evidence accurately. The explanation shows how each support advances its matched claim.
Common Misconceptions: Students may attach one reason to every claim or group all evidence together. They may choose a relevant topic detail that does not actually support the claim.
How to Assess It: Give a short argument with two claims and several reasons or facts. Ask students to match support to each claim and explain one match.
