Students review relevant ideas expressed in discussion and explain their own understanding. They synthesize rather than list comments.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student identifies important ideas from multiple speakers and states a clear conclusion or understanding. The explanation shows how the ideas relate.

Common Misconceptions

Students may repeat comments in speaking order without identifying relevance. They may state a conclusion unrelated to the discussion evidence.

How to Assess It

After a discussion, ask students to name two relevant ideas and explain their own understanding or conclusion in response.
