What Students Need to Do
- Students pose and answer specific questions that clarify or follow up on information. They add relevant comments linked to others’ remarks.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student asks a focused question and responds with detail. A comment explicitly extends, clarifies, or challenges a prior contribution.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may ask broad questions that shift topics. They may repeat a peer’s words without extending the idea.
How to Assess It
- During discussion, require each student to ask one specific follow-up and make one comment linked to a peer’s remark.
