- Students follow agreed discussion norms and carry out assigned roles. They help the group share turns, listen, stay focused, and complete its task.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student follows norms, fulfills a role, and supports equitable participation. The role contribution is visible in the group’s result.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may focus on role duties without listening. They may treat norms as rules enforced only by the teacher or facilitator.
How to Assess It
- Give groups a timed discussion task with assigned roles and posted norms. Use a checklist for role completion, listening, turn-taking, and focus.
