What Mastery Looks Like: A student chooses a word such as spicy or juicy because it matches a specific feature. The student explains the connection and uses the word in a clear identifying or describing sentence.
Common Misconceptions: Students may use general words such as good or nice instead of describing the actual feature. They may select a sensory word based on preference rather than evidence.
How to Assess It: Show pictures or samples of three familiar foods. Ask students to identify each and choose precise describing words, explaining the features that support them.
