What Students Need to Do: Students identify their home from the house number and street outward. They name their city, state, and country as the larger places around it.
What Mastery Looks Like: A student gives all four location parts accurately and in a clear order without copying a model. The student can identify which part is the city, state, or country.
Common Misconceptions: Students may give only the street name and leave out the house number. They may mix up city, state, and country, or give a ZIP code when asked for the country.
How to Assess It: In a private conference, ask, "Starting with your house number, tell me where you live, including your street, city, state, and country."

Lesson moves

Have students stack cups labeled street address, city, state, and country, placing the smallest location inside the larger ones.
Have students point to private address cards and explain which card names their street and which cards name larger places.
Play Address Relay: students draw a label card, say that part of their own location privately, then place it in order.
Role-play an emergency call with a toy phone, and have each child privately give their home location when the dispatcher asks.
