- Students connect a named resource to a specific economic effect, such as coal supporting industry or limited oil increasing imports. They support comparisons with evidence.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may assume more resources always produce a stronger economy. They may confuse natural resources with manufactured goods. They may overlook technology, trade, and access to resources.
How to Assess It
- Ask: Japan has few domestic energy resources but a large manufacturing sector. In three sentences, explain how resource scarcity affects its trade and economy.
