What Students Need to Do
- Students locate major resources and compare how they are distributed across Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya. They explain how resources shape exports, jobs, income, and infrastructure.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students use country evidence, such as Nigerian oil, South African minerals, or Kenyan farmland, to explain an economic effect. They also explain why resources alone do not guarantee growth.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think resources are spread evenly or that every resource-rich country is wealthy. They may overlook how transportation, trade, government decisions, and foreign ownership affect who benefits.
How to Assess It
- Give students a resource map and ask: Choose two countries and explain how one difference in resources could produce different jobs or exports.
