What Students Need to Do: Students explain how entrepreneurs identify needs, take financial risks, and organize resources to start or improve businesses. They connect Canadian entrepreneurship to jobs, innovation, competition, and economic growth.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students can analyze a Canadian business example and identify the entrepreneur’s idea, risk, and resources. They can explain two ways the business may support economic growth.
Common Misconceptions: Students may think every worker or manager is an entrepreneur. They may also assume entrepreneurs always succeed, or that opening businesses only benefits the owners.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: A Canadian entrepreneur opens a company that makes electric buses. Name one risk and explain two ways the company could help Canada’s economy.

Lesson moves

Give teams worker, money, tool, and customer cards, then have them build and present a plan for a Canadian business.
Ask students to write whether entrepreneurs or large corporations contribute more to Canada’s economy, using two pieces of evidence.
Play Entrepreneur Match by pairing Canadian business scenarios with outcomes such as job creation, innovation, competition, or business failure.
Students research a Canadian entrepreneur and create a one-page profile showing the business idea, risks, jobs, and economic impact.
