What Students Need to Do
- Students explain how people who start businesses take risks, combine resources, and offer goods or services. They connect entrepreneurship to jobs, income, competition, and economic growth in Brazil, Cuba, and Mexico.

- Students can trace how a business idea may create jobs and meet a need. They can also explain how laws, access to money, and private ownership affect business creation in each country.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think entrepreneurs only invent products or always become wealthy. They may also assume private businesses operate under the same rules in Brazil, Cuba, and Mexico.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: A person wants to open a bakery in Cuba, Brazil, or Mexico. Explain one risk, one economic benefit, and one condition that could affect the business.
Lesson moves
Ways to Teach It
Give groups play money and craft supplies, then have them create a product, set a price, calculate costs, and record profit.
Ask students to write how a new grocery store could affect workers, customers, competitors, and the economy in one country.
Use cards showing business actions and economic effects, then have teams race to match each action with its likely result.
