What This Cluster Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students work with classmates toward one agreed goal. They contribute ideas, listen, divide tasks fairly, solve problems, and combine their work into a finished product.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students set roles, share useful ideas, listen closely, and meet agreed deadlines. They handle disagreements respectfully and help produce one clear, finished product.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may divide the work but never combine or revise it together. Some think strong collaboration means talking most, agreeing with everyone, or only completing their assigned part.
How to Assess It
- Give groups 10 minutes to organize six evidence cards into a claim and two reasons. Use a checklist for turn-taking, listening, shared decisions, and task completion.

Ways to Teach It
Give each group evidence cards, chart paper, and assigned roles to build and present a shared argument poster.
Ask students to write: What should a teammate say or do when the group disagrees about the best idea?
Run a revision relay where each student improves one part of a paragraph, then the group approves the final version together.
Have teams plan a school event proposal with a goal, task list, deadlines, assigned roles, and a short presentation.
