What Students Need to Do: Students recall their home phone number, street address, and city or town. They identify Florida as their state.
What Mastery Looks Like: Given private prompts, a student accurately says each piece of personal location information. The student correctly names Florida when asked which state they live in.
Common Misconceptions: Students may confuse a house number with a phone number or name their neighborhood instead of their city. Some say the United States when asked for their state or give 911 as their phone number.
How to Assess It: Meet with each student privately and ask, “Tell me your phone number, street address, city or town, and state.” Record accuracy without displaying the information.

Lesson moves

Give each student a private envelope of number and word cards to assemble a phone number, address, city, and state.
Ask students to complete, “I live in the city or town of ___, in the state of ___,” by speaking or writing.
Students sort fictional information cards into five groups: phone number, house number, street, city, and state.
Role-play telling a trusted firefighter a memorized address and caregiver phone number during an emergency.
