What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students translate, rotate, or reflect figures, then identify each original angle and its matching image. They use measurement or reasoning to show that paired angles are equal.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student correctly matches vertices before and after a translation, rotation, or reflection. The student can measure or explain why corresponding angles remain equal, even when orientation changes.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may think turning a figure changes its angle measures. They may treat reversed orientation after a reflection as a change in angle size or match the wrong vertices.
How to Assess It
- Show a triangle with a 90-degree angle and its rotated image. Ask students to label the matching angle, state its measure, and explain their answer.
