What Students Need to Do

Students observe the sky, temperature, weather, plants, and hours of light over time. They record what they notice and describe changes that repeat.

What Mastery Looks Like

Students use a picture chart to identify a repeating change, such as cooler temperatures in winter. They use observations to make a simple prediction about what may happen next.

Common Misconceptions

Students may confuse weather on one day with the usual conditions of a season. They may think clouds cause night or that every season has the same weather each day.

How to Assess It

Ask students to draw the sky at noon and bedtime, then tell one change they expect to happen again tomorrow.

   Add a weather symbol and temperature color to a class calendar each morning, then compare the rows after two weeks.
