- Students recall products and related quotients without repeated addition, skip-counting, or drawing every group. They connect each multiplication fact to its related division facts.

- Students answer mixed multiplication and division facts quickly and accurately without drawing groups or counting by ones. They use known fact families to find answers and correct errors.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may reverse the dividend and divisor or give a multiplication answer for a division problem. Some rely on skip-counting, confuse nearby facts such as 6 × 7 and 6 × 8, or forget that zero cannot be a divisor.
How to Assess It
- Give a two-minute exit ticket with ten mixed facts, such as 7 × 8, 54 ÷ 6, and 9 × 4. Check accuracy and note which facts students still count to solve.
