What Students Need to Do
- Students recall products for factor pairs through 12 and answer related division facts without counting or drawing. They use fact families to connect multiplication and division.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Given mixed facts, the student states products and quotients within a few seconds, with few or no errors. The student connects facts such as 8 × 7, 56 ÷ 8, and 56 ÷ 7.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may confuse close products, such as 7 × 8 and 6 × 9. Some know a multiplication fact but cannot name its related division facts. Others still skip-count instead of recalling answers.
How to Assess It
- Give a two-minute exit ticket with 24 mixed facts, including 7 × 8, 56 ÷ 7, 9 × 12, and 108 ÷ 9. Check accuracy and completion.
