What Students Need to Do
- Students locate major farming, mining, manufacturing, energy, and tourism areas across Latin America and the Caribbean. They explain how resources, climate, workers, transportation, and markets shape those patterns and global trade.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students can use a map or data table to connect places with activities such as copper mining, coffee farming, oil production, manufacturing, or tourism. They can explain why products move from those places to overseas markets.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may treat the region as one economy or assume agriculture is the main activity everywhere. They may confuse imports with exports or overlook manufacturing, services, transportation routes, and tourism.
How to Assess It
- Give students a regional trade map and ask: Identify one concentrated economic activity, then explain two reasons for its location and one global trade connection.
