What Students Need to Do: Students make choices that show care for others, truthful communication, steady effort, and follow-through. They explain how their actions affect the class or community.
What Mastery Looks Like: Students choose an appropriate response to a classroom scenario and give a clear reason. They complete an assigned role, admit mistakes, and treat others fairly during group work.
Common Misconceptions: Students may think showing respect means always agreeing or staying silent. They may confuse honesty with saying hurtful things, or think working hard means never asking for help.
How to Assess It: Give this exit ticket: “You forgot your group job. What should you do next, and why?” Look for an honest, responsible response.

Lesson moves

Give groups paper, tape, and job cards to build a tower, then check whether each student completed the assigned job fairly.
Discuss: “Can you disagree with a classmate and still treat them well?” Students give one example and explain their word choice.
Play a scenario sort where teams label choices helpful or harmful, then earn a point for giving a clear reason.
Examine a school cleanup plan and assign jobs, deadlines, and a way to report honestly when work is unfinished.
