What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students plan and give a short presentation that combines spoken words with a helpful visual, sound, object, or digital feature. They choose media that makes the topic clearer.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can organize two or three clear points, add matching media, and explain the topic aloud. Each image, object, caption, or sound helps the audience understand.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add decorations, sounds, or animations that do not relate to the topic. They may read every word from a slide, leave images unexplained, or crowd one page with too much information.
How to Assess It
- Give students 10 minutes to make one slide about a favorite animal with a title, one fact, and one useful image. Ask how the image supports the fact.

Ways to Teach It
Provide photos, labels, and objects about weather; pairs build a poster and give a one-minute forecast using two selected items.
Show one clear slide and one cluttered slide; students write which teaches the topic better and give one reason.
Play Media Match: students draw a topic card and choose the image, sound, or prop that best supports it.
Students create a two-slide school lunch announcement with a menu image, one spoken detail, and a clear reminder.
