What Students Need to Do: Students identify how named people and groups changed their societies. They classify contributions as social, political, economic, or cultural and explain their effects with evidence. They compare examples from past and present societies.
What Mastery Looks Like: Given a short source, students can name the contribution, classify it, and explain its effect. They can also explain when one contribution fits more than one category.
Common Misconceptions: Students may confuse political contributions with social change or economic contributions with new inventions. They may focus only on famous leaders or assume every contribution had a positive effect.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: Choose one person or group studied today. Name one contribution, classify it, and explain one effect on society using a specific fact.

Lesson moves
