Common Misconceptions: Students may assume faster communication always improves relationships or affects every culture equally. They may focus only on the internet or confuse access to information with accurate understanding.
How to Assess It: Exit ticket: Choose the telegraph or social media. Name one cultural exchange it sped up, one possible harm, and explain each connection.

Lesson moves

Have groups send the same message by paper relay and instant-message cards, then chart speed, accuracy, and audience size.
Ask students to write: How can faster communication spread both cultural traditions and harmful stereotypes?
Play a cause-and-effect card match using communication tools and changes in trade, language, music, beliefs, or conflict.
Compare two news posts about one global event and identify how translation, speed, and platform design shape cultural understanding.
