What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students explain how Texas advances in aerospace, agriculture, energy, and technology improve people’s lives and work. They connect each innovation to benefits for individuals, businesses, and society.
What Mastery Looks Like
- Students name a specific innovation and describe clear results, such as lower costs, safer work, more jobs, or conserved resources. They identify who receives each benefit.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may call any new product an innovation without explaining its benefit. They may confuse a benefit to one company with a wider benefit to individuals or society.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to choose a wind turbine, irrigation system, satellite, or computer chip. They write one benefit for an individual, a business, and Texas society.
