What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students identify qualities such as honesty, responsibility, courage, cooperation, and service. They use specific actions to explain how past and present Texas state or local leaders showed those qualities.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student can name a state or local leader and identify two leadership qualities. The student supports each choice with a specific decision, action, or accomplishment.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may confuse a leader's title, popularity, or power with a leadership quality. They may name national leaders, or list qualities without linking them to specific actions.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: Choose one past or present Texas state or local leader. Name two leadership qualities and cite one action that shows each quality.
