- Students can choose a suitable civic action for a local or state issue and explain why it fits. They can describe how to contact leaders respectfully and follow up on public promises.

- Students may think civic participation only means voting or running for office. They may confuse local, state, and federal responsibilities, or assume officials must agree with every request.
How to Assess It
- Exit ticket: A city park is unsafe and needs repairs. Name one action a resident could take and explain how it could help.
