What Students Need to Do
- Students learn the names of their local mayor, the Texas governor, and the U.S. president. They match each person to the correct office and level of government.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student correctly names all three officeholders without a word bank. The student pairs each name with mayor, governor, or president.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may give a former president or governor because books and posters are outdated. They may confuse the mayor with the governor or assume every Texas city has the same mayor.
How to Assess It
- Give an exit ticket with three lines labeled mayor of our city, governor of Texas, and president of the United States. Students write one current name per line.
