What Mastery Looks Like
- Students annotate a word problem, choose a fitting strategy, and carry out the steps accurately. They justify the answer and use estimation, units, or another method to check it.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may grab numbers and start computing before identifying the question. They may treat checking as repeating the same work or accept an answer that does not fit the context.
How to Assess It
- Give this exit ticket: “An art teacher has $125 and buys six marker packs at $8 and three pads at $7. Label your given information, plan, solution, justification, and reasonableness check.”
