What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students evaluate advantages and disadvantages of presenting a subject through text, audio, video, stage, or digital media. They also analyze how faithfully a production follows or changes a written text.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student evaluates medium-specific strengths and limits with evidence. The student identifies a meaningful adaptation choice and explains its effect rather than treating every departure as an error.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may prefer a medium based only on entertainment. They may equate faithfulness with quality or list changes without analyzing why they matter.
How to Assess It
- Give a written excerpt and a short audio, filmed, staged, or digital production of it. Ask students to evaluate one medium advantage, one disadvantage, and one faithful or changed element.
