What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students compare how print and digital or other media formats help readers understand a subject. They analyze what each format makes clearer, more vivid, or harder to notice.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student cites specific features from both formats and explains their effects on understanding. The comparison addresses strengths and limits rather than preference alone.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may summarize content without comparing format contributions. They may call video better because it is entertaining or print better because it has more words.
How to Assess It
- Give a printed explanation and a short video clip, audio segment, or digital infographic about the same subject. Ask students to compare one contribution and one limitation of each format.
