What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students present claims and findings in a focused, coherent way. They emphasize important points with relevant facts, details, and examples while using clear delivery.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The presentation has a clear claim, logical sequence, and well-chosen support. Eye contact, volume, and enunciation help listeners follow the most important points.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may add many details without emphasizing key ones. They may memorize eye contact gestures while speaking too softly or organizing ideas poorly.
How to Assess It
- Ask students to deliver a two-minute claim-and-evidence presentation with three salient points. Use a checklist for focus, support, eye contact, volume, and enunciation.
