What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students paraphrase portions of information presented visually, quantitatively, and orally. They preserve the original meaning while using their own words.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student accurately restates a chart finding, visual detail, or spoken point without copying. The paraphrase includes the important meaning and relevant units or context.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may repeat exact wording or omit a key number, label, or qualification. They may add opinions not present in the source.
How to Assess It
- Provide a chart and short audio statement. Ask students to paraphrase one important portion from each, preserving meaning and units.
