What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students recall relevant experience or gather information from several sources. They take brief notes and sort evidence into categories provided by the teacher.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student records short, relevant notes rather than copying whole passages. Each note is placed in the category it supports.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may copy whole sentences instead of taking brief notes or record details unrelated to the question. They may place notes in the wrong provided category.
How to Assess It
- Provide two short sources and three category headings. Ask students to record four brief notes, sort them, and cross out one irrelevant detail.
