What This Standard Means

What Students Need to Do

Students include digital media or visual displays that emphasize important facts or details. They select media that directs audience attention purposefully.

What Mastery Looks Like

The student chooses a relevant image, chart, or slide and explains the emphasized detail. The display supports rather than replaces speaking.

Common Misconceptions

Students may add decoration or choose a visual unrelated to the key fact. They may read the display without explaining it.

How to Assess It

Ask students to add one visual or digital element to a short report and explain which fact it emphasizes and why.

  2. Ask students which detail deserves visual emphasis.

  3. Play Visual Emphasis Match with report facts and display choices.

  4. Create a simple chart or image for a class topic report.
