What Mastery Looks Like
- A student locates an entry efficiently and interprets its definition, labels, and examples. The student distinguishes among listed meanings and restates the fitting one clearly.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may choose the first definition regardless of context or overlook a phrase listed under a main word. They may copy a definition without understanding its unfamiliar terms.
How to Assess It
- Give students a glossary and beginning dictionary with a multiple-meaning target word. Ask them to locate, choose, and explain the precise contextual meaning.
