What Students Need to Do
- Students write informative texts that introduce a topic, develop points with facts, use subject words, and provide a conclusion. The writing teaches readers.
What Mastery Looks Like
- The student states a clear topic, groups accurate information, uses relevant vocabulary, and closes the piece. Facts support the points made.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may list facts without a focus. They may add opinions, use vague terms, or stop without closure.
How to Assess It
- Give a familiar topic and fact notes. Ask students to write an introduction, two developed points with content words, and a conclusion.
